About The Role
We’re looking for a Legal Counsel to join our collaborative Legal team on a
12‑month contract , supporting the business across a broad range of commercial, regulatory and dispute matters. This is a fantastic opportunity for an early‑career lawyer looking to deepen their experience in financial services within a purpose‑led organisation.
Responsibilities
Provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice across HESTA
Support contract drafting, review and negotiation activities
Assist with incident and breach assessment and remediation matters
Contribute to dispute resolution and regulatory responses
Review publications and business initiatives from a legal perspective
Help uplift legal processes, templates and ways of working
Liaise with and help manage external legal advisers
Stay close to regulatory developments impacting superannuation and help guide the business through legislative and prudential change
About You
You’re a collaborative and solutions‑focused lawyer who enjoys variety and working close to the business.
Requirements
1–4 years PQE, ideally within financial services (private practice or in‑house)
Experience across commercial contracts, disputes or regulatory matters
Strong drafting, communication and stakeholder skills
Sound judgement and a pragmatic approach to managing risk
Admission to practice in Victoria with a current practising certificate
Experience or exposure to superannuation, trust law, SIS Act or APRA regulation will be highly regarded
