Cyber Security Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive cybersecurity professional to join a government organisation’s Digital and Technology Services team on a 6 + 6 month contract based in Melbourne's Inner South-East suburbs. Candidates are required to have a strong engineering background and demonstrated proficiency in the following essential areas: Microsoft Purview Responsibilities

Cyber Security Strategy:

Implement the Digital and Technology Services Cyber Roadmap, implementing controls aligned with industry standards Risk & Vulnerability Management:

Develop threat models, conduct security risk assessments, and recommend effective mitigations. Incident Response:

Work collaboratively with the D&T team to manage security incidents, focusing on continuous improvement across prevention, detection, and response controls. Policy & Training:

Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and documentation, as well as ensure the ongoing development of Cyber Security training programs. Technical Administration:

Manage and troubleshoot security across infrastructure including VMware, HP switching, Exchange (Hybrid), and SIEM platforms. About You

A minimum of 5+ years of dedicated experience in a Cyber Security Engineering role Demonstrated experience in implementing cybersecurity frameworks, governance, and reporting, ideally within government organisations. High level analytical and investigative skills. Strong working knowledge of SIEM platforms and other key security systems. Excellent communication skills to influence, advise, and negotiate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders up to the executive level. Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or Cyber Security. How to Apply
