Deputy Executive Director , you will help lead the QLD Division; steering policy development, shaping advocacy strategies, engaging with government and media, and strengthening relationships across industry. You will provide high‑level support to the QLD Executive Director, Division Council and President, and act as Executive Director during periods of leave. This role is central to influencing the state’s political, legislative and economic environment on behalf of our members. What you’ll do: Leadership & Advocacy Support and deputise for the QLD Executive Director. Lead, guide and develop Brisbane-based Policy and Communication Advisors. Shape and deliver advocacy, public affairs and communications strategies. Engage with ministers, shadow ministers, senior government officials and local government representatives. Represent the Property Council at key forums, media engagements and industry events. Policy & Government Relations Develop policy positions with strong member input. Prepare high-quality submissions to state and local government. Monitor political and legislative developments. Represent the industry through government committees, boards and working groups. Build alliances with other influential groups to advance industry priorities. Communications & Media Act as spokesperson on designated issues. Build strong relationships with media and contribute to corporate communication products. Deliver compelling speeches, commentary and public messaging. Member & Commercial Engagement Support commercial teams in driving membership growth, sponsorship, and events success. Curate and lead policy-relevant events, seminars and professional development programs. Strengthen relationships with Property Council members and allied industry bodies. People & Culture Foster a high‑performance, collaborative team culture. Lead staff development, performance reviews, and succession planning. Champion diversity, curiosity and continuous learning. Ideally you will have: Strong understanding of political and public policy processes. Proven experience in policy development and stakeholder engagement. Demonstrated leadership experience in government or industry. Media and public speaking experience. Strong strategic and creative problem solving skills. Ability to lead in a small, fast paced team environment. Strong research capability and use of innovative data sources. Proactive, assertive and highly detail oriented. And what else?
