Job Description
My client is a leading commercial real estate financier and investor with offices in Melbourne, managing several billion dollars of capital on behalf of institutional and high-net-worth investors.
Due to continued growth in origination and transaction activity, the firm is seeking to appoint an experienced Director to play a senior role in executing subordinated debt and complex credit investments across the platform.
This is a hands-on leadership position with direct responsibility for transaction execution, deal structuring, and investment decision-making, alongside the management and development of a high-performing team of analysts and associates.
The role is suited to an accomplished property finance or investment professional who combines deep transactional experience with strong people leadership and stakeholder management capability.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading end-to-end execution of complex equity, subordinated debt, and structured credit transactions, from initial underwriting through to investment committee approval and close
Driving investment analysis, financial modelling, and commercial assessment, ensuring recommendations are robust, well-reasoned, and investment-grade
Structuring and negotiating mandate terms in coordination with internal stakeholders, legal advisers, borrowers, joint venture partners, and capital providers
Acting as deal lead on mandated transactions, with accountability for execution timelines, quality of analysis, and adherence to approval parameters
Managing, mentoring, and developing analysts and associates, including oversight of work quality, prioritisation, and professional development
Overseeing the preparation and ongoing management of investment business plans, including performance monitoring and recommendations for amendments where required
Managing key external relationships throughout the investment life cycle, ensuring outcomes align with fund objectives and approvals
Ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of all transaction, fund, and investor reporting
Managing team capacity and resource allocation in coordination with senior leadership, including supporting other teams during peak execution periods
Contributing to broader investment team initiatives, including recruitment, investor relations support, capital raising initiatives, and strategic projects
Actively promoting firm values, culture, and people initiatives across the team
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
10+ yearsโ experience in real estate investing or financing, gained within investment banking, private equity, investment management, corporate banking, advisory, or related environments
Deep execution experience across property equity, subordinated debt, and structured credit transactions
Strong financial modelling capability and advanced Excel proficiency
Excellent commercial judgement, analytical rigour, and attention to detail
Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and defend investment theses at a senior level
Proven people leadership capability, including coaching, delegation, and performance management
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to negotiate, influence, and drive outcomes
A collaborative mindset combined with accountability and ownership
This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior execution and leadership role within a highly regarded real estate investment platform, offering meaningful responsibility, transaction exposure, and long-term career progression.
