Full time maximum term position up to 2 years

Salary range: $104,925 - $122,409 plus super

Up to $15,900 in salary packaging, flexible hybrid work arrangement

Relocation supports available

About the role We are seeking a Senior Lawyer to join our Mildura office. This is more than a legal role, it's an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities across the region.

You will deliver high-quality legal services in family law and family violence intervention order matters, including early advice, duty lawyer services, complex casework, representation and negotiation.

You will appear in the Magistrates' Court of Victoria and the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, including through the Family Advocacy and Support Services (FASS) model, managing sensitive and urgent matters, including related child protection issues where required. You will also mentor junior lawyers and contribute to community legal education, policy and law reform initiatives to improve access to justice.

Relocation support may be available for suitable applicants moving to Mildura. Mildura offers affordable housing, a strong community and access to the Murray River and surrounding parks.

This role is based at our Mildura office on Latji Latji, Barkindji, and Paakantji Country.

About You As Our Ideal Candidate, You Will Possess

Strong knowledge and practical experience in family law and family violence, including intervention order matters and relevant court processes.

Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor and develop junior lawyers.

High-level interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective professional relationships and communicate confidently with clients, courts and stakeholders.

A current unrestricted Australian practising certificate which entitles you to practise in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory).

Entitled to practise in federal courts and courts exercising federal jurisdiction (entry on the High Court's Register of Practitioners) (mandatory).
