About Avant Law
Avant Law is a national specialist law firm looking for a 1-3 PAE Solicitor in Brisbane to join a team of purpose-driven lawyers who are passionate about defending medical practitioners. This is an opportunity for a qualified Solicitor to develop their career working for Australia’s largest specialist medical defence law firm that has been recognised for its wide range of expertise. This is a permanent full-time role with a hybrid work arrangement.
The key responsibilities include:
Directly supporting the Legal Team Manager and senior lawyers, this role will see you deliver high quality, timely legal advice and services in respect of a broad range of medical defence matters to Avant Insurance claims managers and Avant’s members concerning litigated matters.
Provide oral and written legal advice to members and Avant Insurance claims managers concerning civil litigation, legal claims and general medico-legal advice.
Prepare and manage legal files relating to civil claims and other matters, contributing to the delivery and achievement of a superior and comprehensive legal service.
Represent members in legal proceedings, attend court and through clear and persuasive advocacy achieve the best outcome for the member.
To be successful in this role you will have:
Demonstrated post admission experience in private practice (ideally 1- 3 PAE) in medical negligence and/or personal injury litigation.
Relevant tertiary legal qualifications.
Eligible to hold an unsupervised practising certificate as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia. Restricted practising certificates will also be considered at this level.
Prior experience conducting all phases of defence personal injury or health litigation would be highly advantageous.
Personable with the ability to express ideas effectively with proven excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High level of prioritisation, time management and self-management skills.
The ability to work collaboratively with the claims team on-site.
Good computer literacy and competency to work in an electronic document management environment.
