About the Team
Edge2020’s Energy Management Team (EMT) is at the forefront of our service delivery. Led by our Head of Analytics & Trading, the EMT combines market intelligence, quantitative analysis, and commercial expertise to deliver optimal outcomes to our clients.
Through rigorous analysis and proactive engagement, the EMT ensures clients are informed, educated, and positioned to make confident, data-driven decisions across energy, environmental, and carbon markets.
About the Role
Edge2020 is looking for a Senior Energy Consultant to join our team and play a leading role within the EMT.
This is a rare opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio, supporting some of Australia’s largest energy users and renewable developers navigate the evolving energy landscape. Edge2020 interacts with a wide range of energy industry participants, from generators, wholesale brokers and traders, regulators and the market operator, retailers, and other specialist services providers, to ensure optimal outcomes for our clients.
Our products and services include physical and financial products and services across electricity, gas and environmental markets.
This role will directly lead to market-facing decision-making (energy portfolio management and procurement) and contribute to business development.
Key responsibilities include:
Analyse market data and keep abreast of market developments to inform our portfolio management and trading decisions and advisory services
Maintain and optimise tools and models (e.g.: electricity spot price forecasting model)
Provide accurate portfolio position and performance reporting
Run tenders and negotiate contracts on client’s behalf
Maintain regular meetings with clients and proactively provide advice
Proactively develop and maintain relationships with clients and key industry stakeholders
Support the Head of Trading and Analytics to maximise quantity and diversification (e.g. size, industry, service type) of clients and secure new business
5+ years of energy industry experience and deep knowledge of the Australian energy markets
Solid understanding of spot and forward electricity markets, pricing and forecasting
Coding skills (SQL, Python, R, Git) or related AI coding assistant tools
Analytical and problem solving skills, attention to detail
Excellent written, presentation and interpersonal skills
Curiosity, drive, passion about energy, enthusiasm for a diverse role in a dynamic environment to deliver commercial outcomes
A bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Engineering, Data Science, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Physics or related field).
Energy trading experience
Experience in energy market modelling, forecasting, financial modelling and risk analysis
Industry network
Knowledge of the gas markets, emissions reporting, environmental certificate markets, risk management
An understanding of energy industry regulatory frameworks, policies, and procedures
