About The Role
The Senior Project Engineer (Development) – Track and Civil
plays a key role in overseeing the development phases of Track and Civil projects within V/Line’s Major Periodic Maintenance (MPM) Program. This position ensures projects are planned and delivered in line with V/Line’s Design Management Procedure and MPM Framework, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of the rail network.
Provide engineering and project management support for planning and development within the MPM Program.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance and develop cost-effective solutions.
Conduct site investigations and coordinate assessments to support project development.
Offer technical advice and guidance to project managers and team members.
Ensure design works align with V/Line’s procedures and facilitate Safety in Design (SiD) workshops.
Prepare and manage project documentation, including Change Requests and approvals.
Work closely with Asset Planning Engineers and contribute to lessons learned workshops.
About You
You are an experienced professional with a strong background in rail infrastructure projects and a passion for delivering safe, efficient solutions. You thrive in dynamic environments, adapt quickly to change, and enjoy collaborating with diverse teams to achieve shared goals.
Engineering expertise: A tertiary qualification in Engineering, with knowledge of railway track maintenance, renewal, and civil design.
Project Management skills: Ability to apply project and program management principles effectively.
Stakeholder engagement: Experience working with multiple stakeholders in complex environments, including government agencies.
Technical proficiency: Familiarity with railway project design and delivery, estimating and costing, and Safety in Design (SiD) processes.
Regulatory knowledge: Understanding of compliance requirements, including environmental and heritage approvals.
Collaboration and independence: Comfortable working autonomously while contributing to team objectives.
Adaptability and problem-solving: Ability to respond to changing priorities and develop innovative solutions.
Safety and risk management: Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment through proactive risk management.
Alignment with V/Line’s values: responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership, and human rights.
Qualifications
Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Railway, or related discipline).
A valid Driver’s Licence.
