What you’ll do:
StudioHawk is entering its next phase of maturity.
We are a global SEO agency operating across Australia, the UK and the US. Over the past few years we’ve scaled quickly. Now we need to rebuild and strengthen the financial foundations that support that growth.
We’re looking for a Financial Controller who can:
Develop, stabilise and continuously improve our finance function in Australia
Strengthen financial governance, controls and visibility
Design and build a sustainable internal finance capability
Provide clear commercial insight to support better decision‑making
Establish strong foundations that enable future scale
The first 3–6 months will be hands‑on, focused on building structure, improving clarity and embedding disciplined processes.
This role requires someone comfortable working in the details while shaping a stronger long‑term framework.
First 6 months:
Enhance month‑end close processes and reporting reliability
Strengthen balance sheet integrity and reconciliation discipline
Implement and embed structured cashflow forecasting
Improve working capital management and financial visibility
Refine approval workflows, delegation frameworks and governance standards
Deliver a clear finance development and capability roadmap
Conduct a structured profitability review to identify margin improvement opportunities and implement practical short‑term performance enhancements
Beyond 6 months:
Design and build a sustainable internal finance capability
Improve profitability visibility and performance reporting
Strengthen forecasting accuracy and commercial insight
Partner with leadership to support margin improvement and strategic decisions
Establish scalable systems and processes that support growth
What success looks like:
Accurate, reliable and timely financial reporting
Strong financial governance and structured oversight
Clear cashflow visibility and improved working capital discipline
Reduced process friction and improved system clarity
Improved margin performance and financial insight
Finance operating as a trusted strategic and operational partner
Who you are:
What matters most is your mindset.
You’re someone who:
Has experience strengthening or building a finance function
Are comfortable working in the detail while shaping long‑term structure
Understand the economics of professional services environments
Value governance, clarity and disciplined processes
Can introduce structure without unnecessary complexity
Communicate financial insight clearly to non‑finance stakeholders
Take ownership of outcomes and focus on measurable improvement
Must haves:
CA or CPA qualified (or equivalent)
Proven experience leading finance teams and improving systems
Strong commercial acumen and ability to influence at all levels
Resilient, detail‑oriented, and pragmatic under pressure
Background in digital, media, agency or professional services is a bonus

Salary & Compensation:
We believe in transparency - here’s what this role offers:
Base salary: AUD $140,000 to $180,000 + superannuation (depending on experience & technical ability)
