R56884**Job Summary:**As Head of Research & Development (R&D) you will lead the development and execution of the Corvanta R&D strategy in alignment with the business’s overarching goals. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the research and development function operates efficiently through industry best practices, drives innovation, and delivers high-quality, customer-centric solutions that increase revenue.

You will sit on the Corvanta senior leadership team (SLT), representing the R&D function, and will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to guide R&D strategy, development, and systems lifecycle management, ensuring the team has the right resources and capabilities to meet the company’s goals. This also includes supporting customer project delivery and maintenance needs, where required to meet overall business objectives.**Job Description:****About the Role**As Head of Research & Development (R&D) you will lead the development and execution of the Corvanta R&D strategy in alignment with the business’s overarching goals. This also includes supporting customer project delivery and maintenance needs, where required to meet overall business objectives.**You’ll have the opportunity to:*** Define, develop and drive the execution of the R&D strategy, ensuring alignment with Corvanta and Modaxo’s organisation and business strategy.* Contribute to the overall business strategy as a SLT member, working closely with other functional leads to ensure alignment and overall delivery.* Monitor and manage risk related to the R&D strategy, ensuring compliance and alignment with Corvanta policies and regulatory requirements.* Oversee the R&D function, ensuring its objectives are met, including:

+ Executing on product roadmap development

+ Prioritising and executing on sustaining engineering needs

+ Providing technical support and issue resolution for L3 escalations to meet customer SLAs

+ Implementing and maintaining industry best practices for software and hardware development

+ Exploring and implementing the use of AI tooling to improve internal development and QA efficiencies, where feasible and it makes business sense* Ensure R&D investments are aligned with market trends and customer demands, balancing innovation with market feasibility and profitability.* Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Product Management teams to understand customer needs and develop solutions that drive revenue growth and market share.* Lead the R&D function with a strong focus on delivering commercial results while fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and customer-centricity.* Prioritise R&D efforts that contribute directly to the bottom line, improving product differentiation and competitive advantage in the marketplace.* Oversee the retention and talent development of R&D team members by encouraging continuous learning, skill development, and career progression to ensure high performance and long-term team stability.* Lead change management initiatives within the R&D function to ensure smooth transitions during changes in processes, priorities, or structure.* Drive the delivery of product releases, ensuring that R&D team leaders are effectively managing the development and quality assurance functions.* Implement best-in-class processes and tools to increase efficiency of product delivery.* Validate third-party solutions to ensure alignment with Corvanta’s business objectives.* Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the development and delivery of innovative technical solutions that meet customer needs.* Develop partnerships with key customers to co-create solutions, leveraging customer feedback and insights to drive R&D direction.* Ensure compliance with Modaxo group-level reporting requirements, providing accurate, timely, and transparent updates to support organisational governance and strategic decision-making.**About You*** Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams, drive innovation, and create alignment across departments.* Extensive experience in R&D management, ideally for both software and hardware solutions, with a proven track record of successfully delivering product roadmaps and solutions.* A track record of driving R&D outcomes that have translated into tangible commercial results such as increased sales, market share, or profitability.* Ability to balance short-term financial targets with long-term strategic growth, ensuring the R&D function supports sustainable commercial success.* Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate a vision, provide regular updates, and maintain stakeholder engagement.* Comfort with managing change within a fast-paced environment, with a focus on maintaining morale and momentum.* Strategic thinking, with the ability to take a high-level strategic view and translate it into actionable plans.* A deep understanding of market dynamics, including customer needs, competitor activities, and industry trends.* Ability to think long-term while balancing day-to-day execution.* Proven experience in managing budgets, resources, and risk to ensure timely delivery of R&D projects.With a team who are truly dedicated and passionate about what they do, Corvanta understands the impact ambulance services providers have on people’s lives.
