Job Description
Our client is delivering some of the most ambitious renewable energy projects in the Asia-Pacific region. They’re building the technical capability to design, construct and operate large-scale clean energy assets — and they need a senior electrical engineering leader to help make it happen.
As Principal Engineer, Electrical, you’ll report to the Head of Technical and take ownership of electrical systems across the full project lifecycle — from feasibility and design through to construction, testing and commissioning. The scope covers HV/MV transmission, substations, protection and control systems, and balance-of-plant electrical infrastructure.
This is a hands‑on technical leadership role. You’ll shape design direction, guide procurement strategy, and coordinate across engineering, construction and regulatory stakeholders to deliver safe, high-performing electrical systems.
What You’ll Do
Lead the design and delivery of HV/MV electrical systems — including transmission lines, substations, switchgear, transformers, protection and control — ensuring engineering excellence and safety throughout.
Provide electrical engineering input from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design, incorporating operations and maintenance considerations from the outset.
Manage and coordinate electrical system studies (load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, grounding, harmonics, stability) and develop technical specifications aligned with relevant standards.
Collaborate with OEMs, consultants, EPCs and internal teams to resolve complex engineering challenges and ensure reliable electrical network performance and regulatory compliance.
Support procurement activities including contracting strategy, tender evaluation, negotiations and contractor selection for key electrical packages.
Work cross-functionally with development, procurement and legal teams to define viable engineering and contracting approaches.
Identify and manage risks and opportunities to maximise project value, safety and operability.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Deep expertise in HV/MV electrical engineering, with hands‑on experience in the design and delivery of transmission lines, substations, switchgear, transformers, and protection and control systems.
A strong track record across full-cycle development and delivery of large‑scale electrical infrastructure.
Experience managing and coordinating electrical system studies and technical specifications in line with relevant industry standards and codes.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively across complex stakeholder groups — including OEMs, EPCs, contractors and regulators.
Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly across all levels.
Highly Desirable
Experience in renewable energy, transmission or utility‑scale projects.
Professional Engineer (PE) certification or RPEQ registration.
Experience negotiating and executing complex EPC contracts and managing procurement of major electrical packages.
Familiarity with systems integration including network modelling, protection philosophy, control system strategy and grid connection compliance.
Experience working across geographies and project partnership structures.
Why This Role?
This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in landmark renewable energy infrastructure. You’ll work alongside a talented, multidisciplinary team on projects of genuine global significance, in a collaborative, purpose‑driven environment where your technical expertise will have a direct and lasting impact on the energy transition.
