Job Description
A large complex state government department is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering technology architecture that supports large-scale, ICT-enabled business transformation.
Reporting to a senior digital architecture leader and working as part of a dedicated Digital Architecture function, this role is responsible for defining, maintaining and implementing enterprise technology architecture to guide ICT planning, investment decisions and service delivery across a complex operating environment.
About the Role
This organisation operates one of the largest and most complex ICT environments in Queensland, supporting a broad portfolio of traditional and contemporary infrastructure services alongside a diverse application landscape spanning business, clinical and integration platforms.
Operating within a federated service delivery model, the Enterprise Architect will work closely with internal business units, service providers and senior stakeholders to ensure technology services are aligned to strategic objectives and deliver measurable value.
The organisation is undergoing significant, ongoing transformation. This is a highly strategic role requiring strong change leadership, commercial acumen, and the ability to influence at senior levels across a complex stakeholder landscape.
You will lead the development and implementation of service and technology architectures focused on sustainability, transparency, efficiency, and lean and agile principles, while maximising value across the enterprise services portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain and implement enterprise technology architecture frameworks, standards and roadmaps
Provide strategic architectural direction to inform ICT planning and investment decisions
Influence enterprise-wide technology and service reform initiatives
Partner with senior business and technology stakeholders to align architecture with organisational objectives
Lead and contribute to architectural strategies, mandated principles and standards
Provide specialist advice on enterprise architecture across infrastructure, applications and integration domains
Balance tactical delivery demands with longer-term strategic architecture outcomes
Support large-scale organisational and digital transformation initiatives
About You
You are a senior Enterprise Architect with strong experience operating in large, complex organisations and federated environments. You bring a strategic mindset, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the credibility to influence decision‑making at executive level.
You will demonstrate:
5+ years' experience
in enterprise architecture or enterprise‑level solution design
Proven ability to provide strategic direction that delivers sustainable, fit‑for‑purpose and value‑for‑money technology services
Strong experience developing and managing senior stakeholder relationships
Demonstrated capability in strategic planning and advocating for technology and services reform
Experience delivering ICT services within service provider or commercially oriented environments
Proven experience developing architectural strategies, standards, principles and roadmaps
A strong understanding of public sector operations, ideally within complex service delivery environments
Highly developed analytical, communication and negotiation skills
Ability to manage competing strategic and operational priorities
Qualifications & Requirements
Relevant tertiary qualifications are desirable but not mandatory
A current Queensland
C Class driver's licence
is required (or ability to obtain prior to commencement)
Ability to undertake reasonable travel as required
