Have a Heart for Change!
At Heart Foundation, we believe everyone deserves a healthy heart. Heart disease is one of the nation's leading causes of death, and since 1959 we've led the fight through research, support, and prevention. Be part of our mission to make heart health achievable by everyone in Australia by 2050.
Help shape the voice of leadership at the Heart Foundation.
Got a knack for turning big ideas into sharp, compelling messages? Comfortable writing in an executive voice one minute and pitching a media opportunity the next? This could be your sweet spot.
We're looking for a Strategic Communications Advisor – Executive Communications to help elevate and amplify the leadership voice of the Heart Foundation. In this parttime role (0.6 FTE), you'll work closely with the CEO and play a key role in positioning the Heart Foundation and its key leadership as trusted, influential voices at a pivotal time for heart health in Australia.
You will have the opportunity to work flexibly, blending your time between home and our Melbourne office.
What You'll Be Doing
No two days are the same, but you'll spend your time:
Providing smart, proactive communications advice to the CEO and Executive Team
Crafting high‑quality content — speeches, opinion pieces, media statements, talking points, social posts and more
Spotting and shaping thought leadership opportunities that build profile and influence
Supporting executive media engagement, from briefing packs to interview prep
Translating complex issues into clear, engaging narratives people actually want to read
Tracking what's working (and what's not) and using insights to sharpen our approach
You'll work closely with our Media & Communications team, Marketing colleagues and senior leaders; trusted to bring judgement, discretion and a steady hand.
What You’ll Bring
5+ years' experience in strategic communications, corporate affairs, PR or journalism
Proven experience advising senior leaders and writing in an executive voice
Strong media savvy and confidence preparing spokespeople
Outstanding writing, editing and messaging skills
The ability to stay calm, focused and effective when things move quickly
Experience in complex or high‑scrutiny environments, or with executive profiling and thought leadership, is a bonus, but not essential.
