Brunel is partnering with a leading organisation within the defence maritime sector delivering large-scale shipbuilding and sustainment programs under long-term national agreements. This role offers the opportunity to lead systems engineering activities across complex platforms that directly support sovereign capability.
As Systems Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for implementing and governing the Systems Engineering framework across the project lifecycle. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality systems artefacts, support structured system reviews, and lead a multidisciplinary team within a highly regulated environment.
This is a senior technical leadership role requiring strong stakeholder engagement, governance capability and experience operating within complex program environments.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the implementation and application of the Systems Engineering framework
Deliver systems engineering artefacts in line with program standards and milestones
Drive successful system acceptance through delivery of compliant digital engineering outputs
Lead formal system reviews in accordance with program governance requirements
Mentor and develop the Systems Engineering team
Maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships as a key technical interface
Identify engineering risks and develop mitigation strategies
Manage engineering changes to preserve system integrity and compliance
Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering processes
Contribute to broader program and engineering objectives
Profile
You will be an experienced systems engineering professional with demonstrated leadership capability in complex, multidisciplinary project environments.
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
Degree qualification in Engineering or related discipline
Minimum 5 yearsโ experience in Systems Engineering or similar technical field
Proven experience delivering outcomes within complex, regulated programs
Strong capability in change management and continuous improvement
Chartered Professional Engineer status (or ability to obtain)
Understanding of requirements management, configuration management and quality assurance frameworks
Experience working with digital engineering or PLM toolsets (desirable)
Membership with relevant professional engineering bodies (desirable)
Australian Citizenship and ability to obtain or hold a security clearance
