Senior Distribution Design Engineer

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Distribution Design Engineer for a permanent role with a client operating in the Power Transmission & Distribution sector, based in Melbourne with the option to also be based in Hobart.

Responsibilities

Lead and oversee the design, analysis, and implementation of power distribution systems for utilities.

Develop detailed engineering plans, including system layouts, equipment selection, and electrical design calculations.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure projects meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.

Conduct thorough assessments and feasibility studies to optimise power distribution systems and enhance performance.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth.

Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in power distribution systems.

Identify and resolve complex engineering challenges, ensuring timely and budget‑compliant project delivery.

Required Experience

Extensive technical knowledge of distribution networks, including 11kV, 22kV, and 66kV overhead and underground lines.

Minimum of 2 years of Overhead Line Design experience.

Proficiency in CAD software, particularly AutoCAD, NEARA, and/or N’Poles.

Sound knowledge of engineering standards, regulations and procedures preferably within a Distribution network environment.

Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to analyse complex technical issues.

Exceptional communication skills to effectively convey technical information to diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
