Expression of Interest - Acting Chief Executive Officer Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service Aboriginal Corporation (DYHS) East Perth, WA Full Time | Fixed Term Contract Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service (DYHS) is a leading Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation delivering holistic, culturally safe primary health care and Social and Emotional Wellbeing services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across the Perth metropolitan area.

About the Role The Board of Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service is seeking expressions of interest from experienced leaders for the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer. The appointment will be for a fixed term of between three and six months. Subject to a subsequent merit-based recruitment process, there may be an opportunity for the successful candidate to be considered for ongoing appointment to the role.

This is a key executive leadership role reporting directly to the Board. The Acting CEO will provide steady, values-driven leadership and operational oversight during a defined transition period, ensuring continuity of services, organisational stability and alignment with Derbarl’s strategic direction.

The Acting CEO is responsible for implementing the strategy and policies set by the Board, managing day-to-day operations, supporting the Executive Management Team and ensuring compliance with all legislative, regulatory and funding obligations.

Key Responsibilities

Provide executive leadership in accordance with the strategic direction set by the Board.

Maintain high standards of clinical, cultural and corporate governance.

Ensure compliance with the CATSI Act 2006, funding agreements and other applicable legislation.

Support and guide the Executive Management Team to maintain operational performance across all clinics and service areas.

Maintain strong and respectful relationships with members, community, Elders, government stakeholders and partners.

Oversee financial performance and sustainability, including budget management and reporting.

Ensure timely and accurate reporting to the Board.

Uphold Derbarl’s values of Cultural Integrity, Equity & Social Justice, Honesty, Professionalism, Quality Care and Respect.

Foster a positive, culturally safe and accountable organisational culture.

About You We are seeking a capable and steady leader who understands the importance of community control and strong governance within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation.

You will bring:

Senior executive leadership experience in health, community services or a comparable not-for-profit environment.

Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal Community Controlled organisations and Aboriginal communities.

A strong understanding of the cultural, historical and contemporary context of Noongar people, including the ability to engage respectfully and effectively within the Noongar community.

Established relationships within the Noongar community, or the proven ability to build trusted and culturally safe partnerships with Noongar Elders, members and stakeholders.

Strong understanding of governance frameworks, including the CATSI Act and Board-CEO accountabilities.

Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and complex service delivery environments.

Sound financial literacy and experience overseeing organisational budgets.

Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

A calm and solutions-focused leadership style suited to a transitional appointment.
