Job Description
Chief Executive Officer
Lead the transformation of one of Melbourne’s most significant public precincts
Drive complex commercial negotiations and stakeholder partnerships
Deliver a vision for community, recreation and economic value
About Caulfield Racecourse Reserve Trust (CRRT)
The Caulfield Racecourse Reserve Trust (CRRT) is a statutory authority established under the Caulfield Racecourse Reserve Trust Act 2017 and also operates as a Committee of Management under the Crown Land (Reserves) Act 1978. The Trust is responsible for the planning, development, management, operation and use of the Caulfield Racecourse Reserve, ensuring the Reserve is utilised for racing, recreation and public park purposes in accordance with its legislative mandate.
The Reserve is one of Melbourne’s most significant metropolitan open spaces, a major racing venue and an evolving public green space serving local residents and the broader Victorian community. CRRT oversees assets exceeding $300 million and is responsible for balancing commercial, community and environmental outcomes across the precinct.
About the Role
Reporting to the Chairman and Trust, the CEO will provide strategic leadership and transparent governance, ensuring delivery of statutory and fiduciary obligations while driving commercial sustainability and long-term precinct outcomes. The role requires leadership of a small but high-performing team and oversight of complex commercial and operational arrangements with tenants, stakeholders and partners, including the Melbourne Racing Club. The CEO will be central to delivering the Strategic Management Plan, a $500 million-plus, fifteen-year roadmap shaping the future of the precinct.
Operating in a highly visible and politically engaged environment, the CEO will work closely with Victorian Government, local councils, planning authorities, community stakeholders and event partners to enhance the Reserve’s reputation, credibility and impact for all Victorians.
About Yourself
You are a commercially astute and politically aware executive leader with a demonstrated track record operating in complex, high-profile environments, ideally across precinct management, major venues, infrastructure, government or public purpose organisations. You bring the credibility and presence to engage confidently with senior government officials, Board members and commercially sophisticated stakeholders, while maintaining a clear focus on long-term community and economic outcomes.
With high levels of personal integrity and sound judgement, you bring a hands-on leadership style suited to a lean organisation, and the strategic vision required to shape a legacy precinct for generations to come.
