Job Description

The role is part of the collaborative Capability Delivery & Sustainment (CD&S) team in delivering high quality and high reliability integrated communications system solutions within a Systems Engineering framework to meet project requirements. The role involves leading the Software Engineering activities, team and environment in Australia for software used in the integrated communications system solutions and collaborate with system architects and international software development teams to ensure that the software applications meet the program requirements.

Responsibilities Be a team leader, leading practitioner and take responsibility for:

Collaborating with the System Architecture & Specialty Engineering team to determine functional and non-functional requirements for software applications.

Following a structured systems engineering methodology, develop software requirements specifications, interface specifications and design documents.

Build, lead and maintain a software engineering team including managing the teamโ€™s development needs.

Manage the establishment of the R&S Australia software engineering environment including the development of software engineering processes & procedures through collaboration with existing international R&S software engineering teams.

Collaborate with international R&S software engineering and development teams to ensure consistency in architecture, design and implementation.

Collaborate with international R&S software engineering and development teams to ensure security, quality and supportability aspects are met.

Lead Software Engineering activities in Australia including software development, software integration, test, fault analysis, rectification and regression testing.

Manage software builds, release and configuration control.

Communicate effectively with senior management and stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress, issues and risks.

Support the CDS Function with the identification of training and development needs for the assigned team, and where assigned, conduct of functional performance and development reviews.

Qualifications and Experience Bachelor Degree in Software Engineering, or other Engineering discipline with relevant experience - Extensive experience in Software engineering and development in a mission critical environment.

Experience in software engineering and software development using C++, SQL, Qt, Python and Linux, and familiarity with Rust and Valgrind.

Understanding of software quality assurance principles.

A technical mindset with a strong structured approach to design and development.

Proven experience in Test Driven Development (TDD).

Advanced organizational and leadership skills.

Advanced communication and presentation skills.

Advanced collaboration skills with both locals and international team.

Drive team success through collaboration achieving results reliably, with broad perspective, initiative, pragmatism, and persistence.
