Head of Production

📍 Melbourne, Australia

Manufacturing Randstad

Job Description

Head of Production (Cosmetics & Life Sciences) Randstad has been exclusively retained to appoint a Head of Production for what will soon be one of Melbourne’s most significant manufacturing landmarks.

Located in the western suburbs, this is a massive, brand-new player in the Cosmetics and Life Sciences space. This pivotal role offers the rare opportunity to build the operational heartbeat of a high-growth enterprise from the ground up, before the first batch hits the line.

The Opportunity: From Blueprint to Batch Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be brought in to architect the production, warehousing, and logistics strategy for a high-output, state-of-the-art facility.

Your Mission:

Set the Standard: Establish a safety-first, high-performance culture across production and warehouse operations from Day 1.

Build the Systems: Design and implement daily production schedules, site-wide SOPs, and WHS standards that define ‘best practice’.

Lead the Scale-Up: Oversee the installation, qualification, and validation of cutting-edge mixing, packing, and filling machinery.

Master the Supply Chain: Own the warehouse flow- from raw material intake to the seamless shipping of finished goods, all powered by a robust ERP system.

Technical Authority: Act as the final word on production procedures, equipment maintenance, and GMP compliance.

The Profile of a Leader We are looking for a heavy-hitter who thrives in the BUILD PHASE and has the technical grit to troubleshoot a new line while maintaining the strategic vision of a department head.

Industry Knowledge: 3+ years of leadership experience in Pharmaceuticals, Cosmetics, or Sunscreen manufacturing. (Food Manufacturing is also beneficial)

GMP Mastery: Deep expertise in TGA-licensed environments and a rock-solid understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice. (FDA experience highly desirable)

Academic Foundation: A Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Pharmacy, or Operations Management.

The "Builder" Mindset: You are comfortable with ambiguity, love troubleshooting machinery, and possess the gravitas to lead a diverse team through a major site launch.

Systems Fluent: Advanced experience with ERP/MRP systems and the ability to turn data into operational efficiency.

Why This Role? Rarely do you get to join a company of this scale before the doors open. This is your chance to own the operational roadmap, hand-pick your processes, and be the primary architect of a future industry leader in the Australian market.
