Principal Design Consultant - Secondary

About the role Enerven is leading the delivery of significant energy projects across Australia, including the 480 MWh Summerfield BESS connection, the Hydrogen Jobs Plan 275 kV connection in South Australia, the 2.8 GWh Eraring BESS, and the 500 kV Goulburn River Solar Farm connection in New South Wales. As a Principal Design Consultant, you will play a strategic senior role within our engineering delivery team, providing expert technical guidance, mentorship, and risk‑management strategies to drive innovative design solutions for high‑value, high‑risk projects over $50 M.

You will collaborate closely with the Head of Bids and Proposals and the Manager of Engineering Delivery, offering a centre of excellence in Substation Automation and Cyber Security. Your efforts will be critical to de‑risking strategic projects during tender and bid development phases, mentoring senior and junior design managers, and delivering engineering value‑adding solutions.

Key responsibilities

De‑risk strategic and major project solutions during tender and bid development.

Mentor senior and junior design managers.

Provide a centre of excellence for engineering value‑adding solutions.

Develop and implement efficiency opportunities for high‑performance and sustainable long‑term engineering solutions.

About you With approximately 20 years of experience in renewables, electrical infrastructure, and utilities, you have a strong background in concept design, tenders, and bid support. You possess specialised cross‑discipline expertise in substation, transmission, BESS, or wind engineering, with particular strength in protection, automation, and security systems. You have proven experience in schedule, cost, and risk management, and an EPC or contracting background.

Specific qualifications and experience required

Degree in Engineering, Chartered Member of the Institute of Engineers, Australia.

Specialised cross‑discipline technical expertise within substation, transmission, BESS or wind engineering with particular strength in protection, automation or security systems.

Experience in schedule, cost and risk management.

EPC or contracting background.
