Job summary Green Cross Australia is seeking an experienced Non-Executive Director to join its volunteer Board. This role is ideal for a senior leader or director with a strong background in philanthropy, fundraising, partnerships or donor engagement within the not-for-profit sector. The time commitment is approximately 5 to 6 hours per month, with remote participation available.

The organisation is entering a new phase of growth, with a renewed focus on community-led resilience, nature-based solutions and collaboration across sectors.

Role description As a Non-Executive Director, you will work closely with the Chair and fellow Board members to provide strategic oversight and guidance as the organisation enters its next phase of growth.

As the organisation enters a growth and re-establishment phase, Directors are expected to take an active, hands‑on approach between Board meetings, supporting outreach, engagement and partnership development aligned to Green Cross Australia’s mission.

Key responsibilities include

Providing strategic input and governance oversight as a member of the Board

Supporting the development and implementation of fundraising and philanthropy strategies

Leveraging networks to support donor engagement, partnerships and philanthropic opportunities

Contributing to Board discussions on organisational strategy, impact and sustainability

Acting as an ambassador for Green Cross Australia and its mission

About you We are seeking experienced Non-Executive Directors who bring a strong understanding of the not-for-profit and philanthropic landscape. You will ideally have experience in one or more of the following areas:

Philanthropy, fundraising or donor engagement for NFPs

Foundation, trust or major donor relationships

Corporate partnerships or sponsorship models

Community engagement and stakeholder relationships

Prior Board experience is highly desirable, along with a good understanding of contemporary governance responsibilities for charities and not‑for‑profits.

Commitment and remuneration This is a voluntary position, with an expected commitment of approximately 5 to 6 hours per month. Board meetings are held quarterly and can be attended remotely.
