An exciting opportunity exists for a highly capable senior growth and commercial leader to take on a pivotal state leadership role within a large, complex FMCG network.
This is a newly created position, established following a significant organisational restructure, with a broad scope blending senior sales leadership, retail execution, commercial strategy and operational oversight across a substantial Victorian footprint.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the State General Manager, you will lead a large, multi-disciplinary team responsible for sales strategy, activation, retail excellence, merchandising, and key account management. You will play a hands-on role in driving in-store performance, strengthening customer relationships and ensuring commercial strategies are executed with precision at scale.
With responsibility for a multi-billion-dollar state operation and hundreds of retail locations, this role requires a leader who can “read the play”, influence diverse stakeholders and balance strategic thinking with practical execution.
Key Responsibilities
Set and lead the end-to-end Victorian sales and activation strategy, aligned to national frameworks while tailored to local market needs
Drive commercial performance across revenue, margin, pricing, promotions, and activation ROI
Build deep, trusted relationships with key customers and major retail groups, influencing outcomes in complex environments
Lead and develop a large, high-impact team, fostering accountability, capability, and succession
Partner closely with the State GM as a commercial and operational thought partner, contributing beyond pure sales
Work cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, finance, and marketing to ensure seamless execution
Champion excellence in store, ensuring brand, range, and activation strategies land effectively
About You
You are a senior FMCG sales optimisation leader who brings:
Extensive experience leading sales, activation and commercial functions within a complex, multi-site FMCG environment
A strong understanding of supply chain and distribution, even if not directly titled in your background
Proven success managing large teams and multiple stakeholder groups, including demanding customers
Commercial acumen with the ability to translate strategy into action
A hands-on leadership style, strong judgement, and the personal credibility to influence at senior levels
Resilience, confidence, and the strength of character to operate in a high-visibility role
Melbourne west location (Hybrid/Office-based three days per week)
Permanent, senior leadership appointment
