Would the idea of working with significant autonomy and independence, leading and managing client work in a boutique firm as well as driving results in a supportive environment appeal to your current career considerations? Then consider this option!
We are seeking a senior commercial lawyer to assume full responsibility for client legal work within a boutique, high-trust practice.
This is an opportunity for an experienced lawyer to take on a role that has been deliberately structured so that the successful candidate runs matters end-to-end, acts as the primary legal adviser to clients, and owns strategy, execution and outcomes, enabling the Principal to focus on firm leadership, systems and growth rather than day-to-day legal delivery.
This is
not
a support role. It is a senior, trusted position for a lawyer who wants meaningful responsibility, professional respect, and the space to do excellent legal work without unnecessary interference.
To be considered, your background will include:
Franchising or small to medium business advisory or inhouse franchising or M&A experience.
Property and leasing.
Licencing and distribution.
Ease with adopting new technology.
Experience with disputes and litigation is advantageous but not essential.
You are:
comfortable owning files and making judgment calls
commercially minded and client-focused
technically strong and systems-competent
confident working independently, while aligned with firm objectives.
The firm operates on a strong technical and workflow platform designed to remove friction from legal work. The Director’s philosophy is simple: enable capable lawyers to do their work properly, without unnecessary complexity, and support them strategically when support is sought.
Process and timing
Start date:
March 2026 (or earlier by agreement) . The recruitment process will include:
a personality profile
reference checks
Flexible working arrangements may be agreed for the right candidate, where flexibility supports — rather than compromises — client outcomes and firm objectives.
