About the role
The position is a National role in the National School of Medicine, to oversee the Rural Clinical Schools and rural experiences. The position is a senior leadership role that reports to the Dean of Medicine.
Key Responsibilities
Provide managerial leadership to the rural clinical schools of the Sydney Campus and the Kimberley Centre for Remote Medical Training (KCRMT) in Broome including: managing clinical placements and staff; stakeholder consultation; negotiating contracts; reporting requirements and agreements in close collaboration with the Dean of Medicine
Participation in budget management in collaboration with the Dean of Medicine and the School Manager
Oversee collaboration with internal and external stakeholders including the Rural Clinical School of WA (RCSWA)
Provide leadership, strategic direction and manage operational matters related to rural health within the School.
Contribute to admissions processes relevant to rural targets and strategies to attract rural applicants.
Represent the School at local and national levels in matters pertaining to rural health and rural workforce development.
Contribute to the development of the rural medical curriculum and student immersion experiences in collaboration with the National Head of Medical Education and Innovation and other academic staff.
Provide teaching into the MD program or other programs offered at the National School of Medicine.
Qualifications, skills & experience
Possession of a Medical degree registerable with AHPRA
A PhD in a relevant discipline area or College Fellowship with equivalent experience or standing.
Experience in teaching at Masters level or higher, or teaching in medical, health or professional practice-based education settings.
Demonstrated experience and expertise in rural health and medical education.
Proven ability to lead complex and dynamic teams within the higher education or health service sector
Advanced and highly effective communication and negotiating skills
High level organisation and management skills
Proficiency with managing budgets, technology and learning and teaching programs
