Job Description
Crop Shop Boutique (CSB) is a fast-growing Australian e-commerce brand redefining athleisure since its launch in 2019 by Rachel Dillon. With a mission to empower women worldwide, CSB blends style, function, and confidence in every piece we create. Our team thrives on relentlessly raising the bar, being perfectly practical, and being unapologetically fearless.
About The Role
The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is a core executive leader responsible for driving profitable growth by governing our brand, generating and capturing demand. This role owns CSB’s brand & marketing ecosystem; from brand positioning and cultural relevance through to acquisition efficiency, retention, and customer lifetime value. The CMO ensures marketing is a commercial growth engine, not a cost centre, and that brand equity is built deliberately as a long‑term asset, but not at the cost of practical financial realities. Operating as a peer to the COO, the CMO is accountable for translating strategy into measurable outcomes, maintaining a rigorous operating cadence, and ensuring marketing capability, investment, and execution scale in line with CSB’s FY30 ambitions.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to define and execute CSB’s growth strategy through brand, marketing, and partnerships.
Own the long-term marketing roadmap, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives, financial targets, and market expansion plans.
Establish, iterate, and maintain a marketing operating cadence aligned to the broader business rhythm.
Define and steward CSB’s global brand strategy, positioning, and narrative across all channels and markets.
Ensure brand consistency, quality, and distinctiveness across campaigns, social, PR, partnerships, and customer touchpoints.
Act as the executive decision‑maker on brand trade‑offs and market positioning.
Own the end‑to‑end demand engine including paid media, organic growth, CRM, lifecycle marketing, and retention.
Be accountable for marketing ROI, CAC, LTV, and contribution margin.
Set strategic direction for channel mix, spend allocation, and experimentation.
Ensure data, attribution, and insight capabilities enable confident, commercial decision‑making.
Lead CSB’s partnerships ecosystem including creators, ambassadors, collaborators, and brand partnerships.
Ensure partnerships are commercially disciplined, brand‑aligned, and performance‑tracked.
Oversee PR, earned media, and social strategy to drive reach, relevance, and credibility.
Build long‑term partnerships that compound value and are defensible over time.
Own the brand & marketing budget and planning process in partnership with Finance.
Monitor and manage spend against forecast, ensuring predictability and discipline.
Make clear investment trade‑offs to maximise return and long‑term value.
Contribute to enterprise‑level profitability, margin expansion, and EBITDA outcomes.
Lead and develop a high‑performing senior marketing and brand team.
Ensure clear accountability, role clarity, and performance expectations across the function.
Ensure marketing practices comply with legal, regulatory, and brand governance standards.
Identify and mitigate brand, reputational, and commercial risk.
Prepare the brand and marketing function for scale across new markets, channels, and business models.
About You
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Commerce, Communications, or a related discipline (Master’s degree highly regarded).
Formal training or demonstrated depth in commercial finance, including budgeting, forecasting, ROI modelling, and contribution margin analysis.
10+ years senior leadership experience within high‑growth consumer brands (DTC, fashion, lifestyle or adjacent), including executive‑level accountability.
Proven experience operating as a member of an Executive Leadership Team, contributing beyond functional remit to enterprise‑wide outcomes.
Strong working knowledge of performance marketing ecosystems, including paid media platforms, CRM/lifecycle tools, attribution models, and analytics frameworks.
Advanced understanding of brand strategy, positioning, and portfolio management within a consumer‑led business.
Demonstrated fluency in data‑led decision‑making, with the ability to translate insight into strategic and commercial action.
Experience working with modern martech and analytics stacks to support scalable growth and executive reporting.
Up‑to‑date understanding of global marketing trends, platform evolution, creator economies, and brand governance considerations across markets.
Ability to think long‑term while executing decisively, balancing strategic ambition with operational and commercial discipline.
Demonstrated ownership of significant marketing budgets with clear accountability for ROI, CAC, LTV, and contribution margin.
Strong people leadership capability, including talent development, succession planning, and performance management.
