The Victorian Government is establishing Outdoor Recreation Victoria (ORV) by bringing together the Victorian Fisheries Authority and the Game Management Authority. ORV will combine the strengths, knowledge, and expertise of both regulators to create more opportunities for fishing, boating, hunting, four-wheel driving and camping across the state. In addition to regulating and promoting the sector, ORV will support access to public land and waterways through a new role in a new cross-government Land Access Panel. Working across government, ORV will create a single, digital hub that will grow over time to become a central place for information related to outdoor recreation in Victoria. ORV will be established on 1 July 2026, and its new functions will be phased in thereafter. The formation of ORV reflects the Victorian Government's commitment to modernising governance, streamlining services, and creating more vibrant and inclusive outdoor recreation opportunities for all Victorians and visitors. ORV will be an independent statutory authority, reporting to the Minister for Outdoor Recreation with support and oversight by the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR). About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the inaugural ORV Board. Expressions of interest are sought for Board Directors for a term of up to three years. The primary role of the Board will be to ensure that ORV fulfils its legislated responsibilities effectively and complies with all Victorian Public Sector Governance Frameworks and Codes. The Board’s responsibilities will include establishing ORV’s strategic direction, setting the entity’s vision and mission, establishing key policies and frameworks, ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements, financial and risk management, appointing executive leadership, and ensuring a healthy and productive workplace culture is established and maintained. Board members will also be expected to foster transparency, stakeholder engagement, and ethical decision-making while guiding the organisation through its formative stages to ensure long-term sustainability and public trust. Who we\'re looking for

To be considered for a Board position, you will need qualifications and/or experience in one or more of the areas listed below. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people, women, or those who are experienced in the outdoor recreation sector or public land management are strongly encouraged to apply. Governance Legal qualifications or experience Public sector legal policy experience Regulatory knowledge Strategic planning Experience in the outdoor recreation sector First Peoples Cultural knowledge Community leadership Community perspectives The positions also require Directors who will bring: integrity; demonstrated honesty; a track record of acting in good faith and in the best interests of the organisation; the ability to listen, analyse, think clearly and work well with others; and a willingness to attend all meetings, ask questions and contribute in a responsible way. Previous board experience is highly regarded but not essential. Occasional travel to regional Victoria will be required to represent ORV at events or to meet with stakeholders.
