$900–$1,200 per day - 6 month daily rate contract view to becoming permanent or extension

Our client is seeking an experienced

Data Architect

to lead the design, development, and governance of our enterprise data ecosystem. This is a senior, hands‑on role where you’ll define how data is collected, stored, secured, and transformed into insights that support strategic decision-making across the business.

You’ll act as the technical authority for data architecture, setting standards and governance while guiding our Data Engineer and Data Analyst.

About the Role The Data Architect is responsible for the

overall data architecture and data strategy , ensuring the data ecosystem is scalable, secure, and aligned with business objectives. You will play a key role in uplifting data capability and embedding a data-driven culture across the organisation.

This role is

based full-time in our client's Adelaide office on Grenfell Street .

Data Architecture & Strategy

Design and maintain enterprise data architecture including data models, data warehouses, data lakes, and data pipelines.

Develop and manage a comprehensive data roadmap aligned with company‑wide strategic initiatives.

Establish and implement data governance frameworks covering data quality, integrity, lineage, and security.

Ensure data platforms are scalable, resilient, and fit for future business needs.

Technical Leadership & Standards

Act as the subject matter expert for all data‑related technologies.

Evaluate and recommend new tools and platforms to enhance analytics and data management.

Provide technical leadership and guidance to the Data Engineer and Data Analyst, ensuring best practices are followed.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

Partner with business stakeholders to translate data needs into architectural solutions.

Work closely with the Data Engineer to oversee robust, efficient data pipelines.

Collaborate with the Data Analyst to optimise data for reporting and analytics using tools such as

Power BI .

Oversee deployment of new data technologies and contribute to major IT initiatives.

Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and governance requirements.

Proactively identify and mitigate architectural risks affecting data quality or system performance.

Uplift & Communication

Clearly communicate architectural decisions to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Champion a strong data culture and promote data‑driven decision‑making across the organisation.

Travel

Travel to sites in

Broken Hill, Adelaide, and the Dominican Republic

to support project delivery and stakeholder engagement.

Architectural Design:

Ability to design complex, scalable data systems.

Strategic Thinking:

Align data architecture with long‑term business goals.

Problem‑Solving:

Advanced analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Leadership:

Proven experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring data professionals.

Communication:

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Adaptability:

Ability to evolve with a rapidly changing technology landscape.

Qualifications & Experience

A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related quantitative field.

A minimum of 10 years of experience in

data engineering, data warehousing, or a similar role, with at least 5 years in a data architect position.

Proven experience designing and implementing end‑to‑end data solutions on a major cloud platform, preferably

Microsoft Azure.

Expert‑level knowledge of database technologies, data modelling, and

ETL/ELT principles.

Strong experience with data governance, security, and compliance.

Professional certifications such as

Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent.

Experience working in the mining or a similar industrial sector.

Experience with

Big Data technologies (e.g., Databricks, Spark).
