General Manager

to provide contemporary leadership to the development of Langi Kal Kal Prison.

About the Business Unit Corrections Victoria is a business unit of the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS). Corrections Victoria’s vision is ‘Safer prisons, safer people, safer communities’ and its mission is ‘A safer, smarter system with a skilled and supported workforce that enables people in our care to make better decisions’.

H.M. Prison Langi Kal Kal is a minimum‑security men’s protection prison located 140 km west of Melbourne. The prison’s primary purpose is the reintegration and preparedness of offenders for transition to release. It is composed of eight industries: Farm, Horticulture, Landmate, Kitchen, Metal fabrication, Poultry, Textiles and Warehouse.

About the Role The General Manager will create and sustain a workforce culture built on solid values, professional excellence and teamwork, and will lead the delivery of all correctional services to achieve safe custody, welfare, and rehabilitation of people in our care.

Responsibilities

Lead by example and demonstrate the DJCS values and behaviours, holding yourself accountable for actions.

Develop, implement and manage all aspects of the facility’s strategic and day‑to‑day operations, including security, safety, rehabilitation, infrastructure, and deliverables.

Actively lead and manage security foundation principles to promote a safe and secure prison environment and influence service processes and systems to support compliance with established standards and mandated requirements.

About You To be successful in this role, you will have:

Extensive experience leading teams and managing operations and business outcomes.

A track record of building a positive culture.

Systems thinking and an innovative mindset.

Demonstrated ability to evaluate and respond to offender management issues.

Legislative and governance knowledge.

Qualifications / Requirements

A relevant qualification or commensurate experience to meet the key accountabilities of this role.

A full and current Victorian driver’s licence or a minimum P2 driver’s licence.
