Our client is a well‑established, multi‑site food and agricultural processing business undergoing continued growth and investment across its operations. With multiple facilities spanning both farming and primary and secondary processing, the business is focused on innovation, operational excellence and long‑term sustainability. They are now seeking a Head of Engineering to lead the engineering and maintenance function and support the next phase of development across several key sites.
About the Role
As the Head of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing engineering strategy, leading a multi‑site team and delivering major capital and continuous improvement projects. Your key responsibilities will include:
Leading, developing and supporting engineering and maintenance teams across all sites.
Overseeing the design, development and implementation of processing and packing lines.
Leading major infrastructure and capital works projects, including facility builds and upgrades.
Designing, drawing and costing new processing lines and major engineering projects.
Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
Working closely with cross‑functional teams to support long‑term planning and operational improvements.
Providing technical guidance across mechanical engineering, production and site operations.
Identifying opportunities for efficiency, reliability and productivity improvements.
Promoting strong safety, quality and compliance practices across all engineering activities.
About You
We’re seeking a seasoned Engineering Leader with a strong background in food manufacturing, processing or similar heavy industry environments. You will bring:
A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in mechanical engineering, including management of multi‑site or large teams.
Proven experience working in fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environments.
Strong understanding of ISO 9001, Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Proficiency in 3D design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Pro / Engineer.
Demonstrated capability in delivering major capital projects and managing budgets.
Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
A strategic mindset paired with strong problem‑solving ability.
