Senior Structural Engineer Harry Maxwell has been engaged by a leading engineering company specialising in the design and delivery of complex mechanical, structural, and fabrication‑ready solutions for major energy, mining, and industrial projects.

We are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to lead engineering delivery, provide technical authority across multi‑discipline projects, and support the development of junior engineers and drafters. You will be responsible for engineering calculations, design intent, material selection, coordination with project teams, and ensuring all deliverables meet company standards, industry codes, and project deadlines.

The ideal candidate must be delivering structural engineering scopes, leading small engineering teams, coordinating with designers and project managers, interfacing confidently with clients, and producing accurate, constructible deliverables for both brownfield and greenfield projects.

About the Role

Lead the delivery of structural engineering scopes across multi‑discipline projects, providing design calculations, material selection, and clear design intent

Champions strong client interface, ensuring clear expectations, aligned design outcomes, and trusted relationships across structural engineering delivery

Act as a key technical resource, ensuring all engineering deliverables meet industry codes, standards, and internal quality requirements

Coordinate closely with engineers, designers, project managers, and clients to maintain alignment and ensure smooth project execution

Support tendering activities, including estimating, pricing, and preparing engineering inputs for proposals

Oversee the preparation, checking, and approval of design deliverables in line with the company’s QA processes

Mentor and develop junior engineers and drafters, contributing to the growth of the engineering and drafting team

Assist in developing and improving engineering standards, procedures, and workflows across the business

Monitor project progress, provide forecasting, and support reporting requirements to ensure deadlines and quality expectations are met

Key Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university

8+ years’ experience delivering structural engineering work across energy, mining, or industrial projects (brownfield and greenfield)

Demonstrated ability to lead small engineering teams and mentor junior engineers and drafters

Strong capability in structural design calculations, material selection, and preparing engineering deliverables to industry standards

Experience coordinating with multi‑discipline teams and supporting project delivery from concept through to execution

Proven ability to price, estimate, and contribute to tendering for engineering design packages

High proficiency in relevant engineering analysis and modelling software (e.g., SolidWorks, STAAD, Caesar II, AutoPIPE, Inventor)

Strong communication, problem‑solving, planning, and stakeholder engagement skills
