Job Description
Centre of Excellence Team Lead - Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)
See yourself in our team
The Organisational Development ("OD") Chapter Area enhances organisational effectiveness and culture through our people experiences, processes and systems. We work across CommBank (“the Group”) to deeply understand our peoples’ lived experience and to create the change required to enable them to deliver our business strategy and purpose.
The Organisational Equity & Inclusion Centre of Excellence defines and governs the enterprise approach to diversity, equity and inclusion, setting direction, operating rhythm and priorities across the Group.
As the
Centre of Excellence Team Lead , you will lead a major stream within the Organisational Equity & Inclusion CoE, translating enterprise DEI strategy into focused priorities and executable work, and embedding equity and inclusion into core people systems, processes and decision-making. This role plays a key part in delivering enterprise outcomes through strong governance, disciplined prioritisation and effective execution.
Do work that matters
This is a senior enterprise role focused on delivering systemic change at scale. Success is measured by the extent to which equity and inclusion are embedded into how decisions are made, risks are managed, and outcomes are delivered across the organisation.
The role requires sound judgement, structured thinking and the ability to navigate complexity, trade-offs and constraint in a large, regulated environment.
On any given day you will…
Lead a defined DEI stream within the Organisational Equity & Inclusion CoE, contributing to the multi-year roadmap and translating strategy into sequenced, executable priorities
Make deliberate choices about where to invest, sequence, pause or stop work, in line with enterprise priorities and capacity
Align DEI priorities to business strategy, workforce sustainability and enterprise risk outcomes
Design pragmatic, enterprise-safe interventions that shift systems, incentives and decision processes, rather than relying on standalone programs
Shape and deliver enterprise initiatives, with particular emphasis on cultural diversity and accessibility, alongside gender equity and inclusion
Ensure DEI priorities are embedded into core people systems and processes across the employee lifecycle
Frame clear options, trade-offs and recommendations for executive and governance forums, operating within defined mandates and decision authorities
Lead regulatory, compliance and risk obligations, including WGEA and gender pay equity, providing clear executive guidance and assurance
Translate data and insights into actionable recommendations, targets and measures that support informed decision-making
Lead and develop a small team of DEI practitioners, building enterprise capability and maturity
We’d love to hear from you if you…
Have experience leading complex enterprise work across DEI, organisational strategy, workforce or transformation domains
Bring demonstrated ability to translate strategy into execution and embed change at scale through systems, governance and leader ownership
Have strong experience in cultural diversity and/or accessibility, and understand these as enterprise design and decision-making challenges
Are comfortable influencing and coaching senior leaders in conservative, high-governance environments
Bring strong systems thinking across organisational design, people processes, culture or change
Are confident navigating regulatory requirements, assurance processes and reputational risk
Are comfortable making prioritisation decisions and trade-offs with incomplete information
Bring sound judgement, executive presence and strong stakeholder leadership
